Douglas Haig

Douglas Haig (1861–1928) was a British field marshal who commanded the British Expeditionary Force on the Western Front from 1915 to 1918. His leadership, especially at the Somme and Passchendaele, remains sharply contested.

John French: A British field marshal who commanded the British Expeditionary Force from 1914 until December 1915. Haig succeeded French as commander of the BEF after their strained wartime relationship.
