Draft horse

A large, powerful horse bred for heavy work such as pulling plows, wagons, and loads. Draft horses are distinguished by their strength, sturdy build, and calm working temperaments.

Horse: A domesticated hoofed mammal descended from wild horses and used for riding, work, and sport. Draft horses are working breeds of the domestic horse.
Horse-drawn plough: A plow pulled by horses to cut and turn soil for cultivation. Plowing was a central agricultural use for draft horses.
Shire horse: An English draft breed known for its great size and strength. Shires became a prominent breed for farm work and heavy hauling.

Pony: A small equine, usually defined by height and often by distinct build or breed characteristics. Ponies are smaller than draft horses, though some can perform substantial pulling work.
Horsepower: A unit of power originally introduced to compare the work rates of steam engines and horses. The unit preserves the horse’s historical role as a benchmark for mechanical power.
