Duke Mu of Qin

Duke Mu of Qin ruled the Qin state in the seventh century BCE. Traditional accounts credit him with expanding Qin’s territory and influence among the Zhou-era states.

Qin (state): A Zhou-era state in western China that later unified China under the Qin dynasty. Duke Mu’s rule helped establish the power of the state he governed.
Battle of Hanyuan: A battle in 645 BCE in which Jin defeated Qin during Duke Mu’s reign. The defeat checked Qin’s eastward ambitions and marked a major reversal.
