Duncan Haldane

F. Duncan M. Haldane is a British-born theoretical physicist whose work established influential ideas about quantum Hall systems, spin chains, and topological phases of matter.

Quantum Hall effect: A quantum phenomenon in which a two-dimensional electron system exhibits quantized Hall conductance under a strong magnetic field. Haldane’s research began with this effect and its unusual quantized edge transport.
