Dynein
Dyneins are motor proteins that use ATP to move along microtubules, usually toward their minus ends. They transport cellular cargo and generate force in cilia and flagella.

CytoskeletonBroader topic: Dynein supports inward cargo transport and powers cilia and flagella.
FlagellumRelated: Axonemal dynein produces the sliding forces that bend eukaryotic flagella.
ActinCompared with: Dynein contrasts with myosin, which uses actin as its main track.
CiliaRelated: Axonemal dynein motors drive the sliding forces that bend airway cilia.
CiliopathyRelated: Dynein defects can impair ciliary motion, a distinct route to ciliopathy.
