Knowra Eddie Cochran Eddie Cochran Eddie Cochran (1938–1960) was an American rockabilly singer, songwriter, and guitarist. His recordings, including “Summertime Blues” and “C’mon Everybody,” helped shape early rock and roll.
Summertime Blues : A 1958 Eddie Cochran song in which a teenager complains about work, authority, and being unable to date. Its vocal overdubs and rebellious humor became Cochran’s signature.
Rockabilly : A 1950s music style combining country instrumentation and vocal inflections with rhythm and blues rhythms. Cochran’s music belongs to this early rock-and-roll style.
Gene Vincent : An American rock-and-roll singer known for “Be-Bop-A-Lula” and his backing group, the Blue Caps. Cochran toured and recorded with Vincent, forming a prominent pairing in early rock and roll.
Hank Cochran : An American country singer and songwriter, born Garland Perry Cochran, who was Eddie Cochran’s older brother. Eddie briefly performed with Hank as the Cochran Brothers.
Rock guitar : Electric-guitar playing developed for rock music, using amplified tone, rhythm, riffs, and solos. Cochran’s economical, rhythmic playing became a model for rock guitarists.
