Edward B. Titchener

Edward B. Titchener was an English psychologist who established structuralism in American psychology and trained generations of researchers at Cornell University.

Wilhelm Wundt: Wilhelm Wundt was a German psychologist who established one of the first experimental psychology laboratories. Titchener studied with Wundt and adapted his experimental psychology for an American structuralist program.
Introspection: Introspection is the examination and reporting of one’s own conscious experience. Titchener trained observers to describe immediate experience under controlled laboratory conditions.
