Edward Norton Lorenz

Edward Norton Lorenz was an American mathematician and meteorologist whose studies of atmospheric models helped establish chaos theory and popularize the butterfly effect.

Lorenz system: A three-dimensional system of ordinary differential equations introduced by Edward Lorenz to model atmospheric convection. This simplified model generated the sensitive, aperiodic trajectories central to Lorenz’s discovery.
