Edwin Booth

Edwin Booth (1833–1893) was an American stage actor celebrated for Shakespearean roles, especially Hamlet. He founded New York’s Booth’s Theatre and came from a prominent acting family.

Hamlet: A tragedy by William Shakespeare about a Danish prince seeking revenge for his father’s murder. Booth’s Hamlet became his signature role and one of the era’s most acclaimed stage performances.
