Eero Saarinen

Eero Saarinen (1910–1961) was a Finnish-American architect and industrial designer whose expressive modernist works include the TWA Flight Center and the Gateway Arch.

TWA Flight Center: A New York City airport terminal designed by Eero Saarinen and opened in 1962, known for its sculptural concrete roof. Its sweeping forms make Saarinen’s vision of flight into architecture.
Thin-shell structure: A structural system in which a thin curved surface carries loads through its shape. Saarinen used shell geometry to achieve broad roofs with little visible support.
