Egypt is a country in northeastern Africa, centered on the Nile River. Its history includes ancient kingdoms and a long tradition of Islamic scholarship.

Nile River: A major river flowing north through northeastern Africa into the Mediterranean Sea. Its annual floods supported settled agriculture and linked Egypt’s communities.
