Egyptomania

Egyptomania is a recurring Western fascination with ancient Egyptian art, imagery, and history, expressed through collecting, scholarship, design, popular entertainment, and political symbolism.

Napoleon's campaign in Egypt: A French military and scientific expedition to Egypt from 1798 to 1801. Its scholars and publications introduced Egyptian monuments to a broad European audience.
Cleopatra (1934 film): A 1934 Hollywood film starring Claudette Colbert as Cleopatra VII. Its lavish sets and costumes renewed Egyptian imagery in mass entertainment.
