Ehrenfest theorem

Ehrenfest theorem relates the time derivatives of quantum expectation values to expectation values of commutators. For position and momentum, it yields equations resembling Newtonian mechanics, with forces averaged over the quantum state.

Heisenberg equation of motion: An equation describing the time evolution of an observable in the Heisenberg picture through its commutator with the Hamiltonian. Ehrenfest's relations are expectation-value versions of this operator evolution law.
Schrödinger equation: The equation governing how a quantum state changes over time. Ehrenfest's theorem follows by differentiating expectation values using this state evolution.
