Ei-ichi Negishi

Ei-ichi Negishi was a Japanese-born American chemist who shared the 2010 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for developing palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions.

Akira Suzuki: A Japanese chemist who shared the 2010 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions. Suzuki’s independently developed coupling reaction was recognized alongside Negishi’s.
Organometallic chemistry: The study of compounds containing at least one direct bond between a metal and carbon. Negishi’s cross-coupling depends on the behavior of organometallic reagents and catalysts.

Oxidative addition: An elementary organometallic reaction in which a metal inserts into a bond, increasing its oxidation state and coordination number. Palladium commonly enters the catalytic cycle by adding an organic halide bond.
