Eighteenth Dynasty of Egypt

The Eighteenth Dynasty ruled Egypt during the New Kingdom, conventionally from about 1550 to 1292 BCE. Its pharaohs expanded Egyptian power and built a major empire in Nubia and the Near East.

Ahmose I: The pharaoh who drove the Hyksos from Egypt and founded the Eighteenth Dynasty. His reunification of Egypt marks the dynasty’s conventional beginning.
New Kingdom of Egypt: The period of Egyptian history spanning roughly 1550 to 1070 BCE, marked by imperial expansion and monumental building. The dynasty’s rule forms the New Kingdom’s opening phase.
Karnak: A vast temple complex at Thebes dedicated chiefly to Amun and other Egyptian gods. Eighteenth Dynasty rulers enlarged Karnak to display royal devotion and authority.

Nineteenth Dynasty of Egypt: The Egyptian dynasty that followed the Eighteenth and ruled during much of the thirteenth century BCE. Its Ramesside kings inherited an empire rebuilt after the Eighteenth Dynasty’s succession crisis.
Thutmose III: A pharaoh whose campaigns established Egyptian dominance across much of the Near East. His military expansion made the dynasty an imperial power.
