Eino Leino

Eino Leino (1878–1926) was a Finnish poet, journalist, and translator whose lyric poetry helped shape modern Finnish literature.

Kalevala: A nineteenth-century Finnish epic compiled by Elias Lönnrot from oral poetry. Leino adapted its mythology, meter, and poetic language for modern verse.
Helkavirsiä: A two-part poetry collection by Eino Leino, published in 1903 and 1916. Its mythic ballads are among Leino’s most distinctive poetic achievements.
Larin-Kyösti: The pen name of Finnish poet Kyösti Larson (1873–1948). He belonged to the same generation of Finnish poets and literary circles.
