Elizabethan theatre

Elizabethan theatre was the professional playhouse culture of England during Elizabeth I’s reign, marked by public amphitheatres, repertory companies, and plays written for live performance.

Theatre in the round: A staging arrangement in which spectators surround the performance area. The public amphitheatres placed audiences around an open-air stage.
The Theatre: A London public playhouse built by James Burbage in 1576. It was the first purpose-built permanent playhouse of Elizabethan London.
