Emirate of Córdoba

The Emirate of Córdoba was an independent Umayyad-ruled state in al-Andalus from 756 to 929. Founded by Abd al-Rahman I, it became the Caliphate of Córdoba under Abd al-Rahman III.

Abd al-Rahman I: The Umayyad prince who founded the Emirate of Córdoba and ruled it from 756 to 788. His escape from the Abbasids and seizure of power established the emirate.
Abd al-Rahman II: An Umayyad emir who ruled Córdoba from 822 to 852 and strengthened its administration and court. His reign illustrates the emirate's growing bureaucratic and cultural centralization.
