Emperor Taizong of Tang

The second emperor of China’s Tang dynasty, Li Shimin ruled from 626 to 649 and strengthened imperial government, military power, and Tang influence across East Asia.

Zhenguan era: The 627–649 period of Emperor Taizong’s reign, later celebrated as a model of effective government. Later histories made this era the benchmark for the political achievements associated with Taizong.
Wu wei: A Daoist ideal of non-forcing action, often applied to political rule and personal conduct. Taizong’s advisers invoked restrained, attentive rule as a way to govern without needless coercion.
