Ernest Borgnine

Ernest Borgnine (1917–2012) was an American actor whose career spanned film and television, from the Academy Award-winning drama Marty to the sitcom McHale’s Navy.

Marty: A 1955 American drama film about a lonely Bronx butcher seeking love and companionship. Borgnine won the Academy Award for Best Actor for playing its title character.
Delbert Mann: An American film and television director known for Marty and other character-driven dramas. Mann directed Borgnine in Marty, the performance that earned him an Oscar.
Hamden, Connecticut: A town in south-central Connecticut, United States. Borgnine was born there in 1917 to Italian immigrant parents.
