Ernest Shackleton

Ernest Shackleton was an Anglo-Irish Antarctic explorer who led the 1914–1917 Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition and became known for rescuing its stranded crew.

Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition: A British expedition from 1914 to 1917 that aimed to cross Antarctica via the South Pole. Shackleton led this expedition after its ship Endurance became trapped and was crushed by sea ice.
