Ernst Ruska

Ernst Ruska (1906–1988) was a German physicist who co-developed the electron microscope, demonstrating that electron lenses could produce images at higher resolution than light microscopes.

Electron microscope: A microscope that uses a beam of electrons to form images at resolutions beyond those of conventional light microscopes. Ruska co-developed this instrument by building and testing electron lenses.
Hans Busch: A German physicist whose work established how magnetic fields can focus charged-particle beams. Busch’s electron-optics theory gave Ruska a foundation for designing magnetic lenses.
