Ethel Smyth

Dame Ethel Smyth (1858–1944) was an English composer, writer, and campaigner for women’s suffrage, known for her operas and the suffrage anthem “The March of the Women.”

Emmeline Pankhurst: A British political activist who led the militant wing of the women’s suffrage movement. Smyth joined Pankhurst’s Women’s Social and Political Union and supported its campaign.
