Parallel postulate

Euclid’s fifth postulate states that through a point outside a given line, exactly one line parallel to it can be drawn.

Playfair's axiom: An axiom stating that exactly one line through a point outside a given line is parallel to that line. This concise formulation is equivalent to Euclid’s fifth postulate in Euclidean geometry.
Euclid: An ancient Greek mathematician whose Elements organized geometry through definitions, postulates, and proofs. He presented the parallel postulate as the fifth assumption in the Elements.
