Eunuch

A eunuch is a castrated male, historically often employed in royal households and courts. Eunuchs held roles ranging from domestic service to political office.

Chief eunuch: A senior eunuch who supervised other eunuchs and often managed palace affairs. This office concentrated the household authority eunuchs could acquire.
