Exotica

Exotica is a mid-twentieth-century popular-music genre that evoked imagined cultures through stylized arrangements, unusual percussion, and orchestral color.

Martin Denny: An American pianist and bandleader whose 1957 album Exotica helped define the genre. His Honolulu performances and hit album gave the genre its name and best-known sound.
Musique concrète: A form of music built from recorded sounds manipulated through editing and other studio techniques. Exotica usually suggests live ensembles, yet its atmosphere also depends on treating the studio as a sound-design tool.
