Fall of Ayutthaya

The Burmese conquest and destruction of Ayutthaya in 1767 ended the Siamese kingdom centered on the city and displaced its population and court.

Burmese–Siamese War (1765–1767): A war in which the Konbaung dynasty invaded Siam and captured Ayutthaya in 1767. The two-year invasion culminated in the city’s capture.
Burmese–Siamese War (1759–1760): A war between the Konbaung dynasty and Siam that included a Burmese siege of Ayutthaya. The earlier failed siege preceded the invasion that succeeded in 1767.
Thonburi Kingdom: A Siamese kingdom based at Thonburi, founded by Taksin after Ayutthaya’s fall and lasting until 1782. It reunited much of Siam under a new capital after the old kingdom collapsed.
