Fars Province

Fars is a province in southwestern Iran, with Shiraz as its capital. Its territory includes parts of the ancient Persian heartland and major archaeological sites.

Persepolis: A ceremonial capital of the Achaemenid Empire, built near modern Shiraz. Its monumental ruins stand in Fars and embody the province’s Achaemenid heritage.
Persis: An ancient region in southwestern Iran that became the core territory of the Achaemenid Persian Empire. Fars occupies the region historically known as Persis.
