Fashion modeling

Fashion modeling is the occupation of posing to display clothing, accessories, or other products. It includes work for photographs, runway shows, and other presentations.

Runway modeling: Fashion modeling in which models present clothing by walking along a runway before an audience. Runway shows display garments in motion and make models part of a live presentation.
Model agency: A business that represents models, negotiates bookings, and connects them with clients. Agencies commonly broker fashion-modeling jobs and manage professional relationships.
Charles Frederick Worth: A nineteenth-century English fashion designer who established a prominent Paris couture house. Worth’s couture presentations helped establish the practice of showing garments on living people.
Naomi Campbell: A British fashion model who rose to prominence internationally in the late twentieth century. Campbell became one of the most visible models of her generation and challenged barriers in the industry.
Body image: A person’s perceptions, thoughts, and feelings about their own body. Repeated fashion imagery can influence how bodies are evaluated and represented.

Casting (performing arts): The process of selecting performers for a production or role. Fashion clients and casting directors select models for particular campaigns and shows.
House of Worth: The Paris fashion house founded by Charles Frederick Worth in the nineteenth century. Its presentations to clients helped shape early professional fashion display.
Beverly Johnson: An American model and actress who became the first Black woman on the cover of American Vogue in 1974. Her Vogue cover marked a major, though incomplete, shift in fashion-media representation.
Size zero: A clothing size associated with very small body measurements in some sizing systems. Debates about sample sizes and casting have linked modeling to concerns about thinness.
