Ferdinand Foch

Ferdinand Foch (1851–1929) was a French general who became Supreme Allied Commander on the Western Front in 1918. He coordinated Allied forces through the final offensives of World War I and accepted the German armistice.

Philippe Pétain: Philippe Pétain was a French general who commanded the French Army during much of World War I. As French army chief, Pétain worked alongside Foch in the Allied command structure.
German spring offensive: The German spring offensive was a series of major attacks on the Western Front from March to July 1918. Its gains exposed the danger of fragmented Allied command before Foch’s appointment.

Hundred Days Offensive: The Hundred Days Offensive was a sequence of Allied advances on the Western Front from August to November 1918. Foch coordinated the sustained offensives that drove German forces toward armistice.
