Ferdinand von Wrangel

Ferdinand von Wrangel (1797–1870) was a Russian naval officer and Arctic explorer who led expeditions to northeastern Siberia and governed Russian America.

Wrangel Island: An Arctic island in the Chukchi Sea, named for Ferdinand von Wrangel. Wrangel searched for land in this region during his northeastern Siberian expedition.
