Fingerstyle guitar

Fingerstyle guitar is a way of playing guitar by plucking strings directly with the fingers or fingernails rather than using a pick. It can combine melody, bass, and accompaniment on one instrument.

Travis picking: A fingerpicking pattern that alternates bass notes beneath a melody or chord accompaniment. Its alternating-thumb pattern is a distinctive way to coordinate bass and treble strings.
Arpeggio: A chord whose notes are sounded successively rather than simultaneously. Arpeggios turn chord shapes into flowing fingerpicked accompaniment.
