Finland under Swedish rule

The period in which the lands of present-day Finland formed part of the Swedish realm, ending when Sweden ceded them to Russia in 1809.

Swedish–Novgorodian Wars: A series of medieval conflicts between Sweden and Novgorod over control of territories around the eastern Baltic. These conflicts shaped the shifting frontier between Swedish and Novgorodian power in Finland.
