First Silesian War

The First Silesian War (1740–1742) was a conflict in which Prussia seized most of Silesia from the Habsburg monarchy during the War of the Austrian Succession.

Battle of Mollwitz: A 1741 battle in which Prussian forces defeated an Austrian army near Mollwitz in Silesia. This early Prussian victory helped secure the invasion and revealed the army’s battlefield strengths.
Frederick the Great: King of Prussia from 1740 to 1786, known for military leadership and state reforms. He ordered the invasion of Silesia and led Prussia to its territorial gains.
Pragmatic Sanction of 1713: A Habsburg decree intended to secure the indivisibility of the dynasty’s lands and Maria Theresa’s succession. Its contested acceptance created the succession crisis that opened the way for Prussia’s attack.
Second Silesian War: A 1744–1745 conflict in which Prussia and Austria again fought over Silesia during the War of the Austrian Succession. Austria’s defeat in this renewed struggle confirmed Prussia’s possession of Silesia.
