First Temple

The First Temple was the sanctuary in Jerusalem that the Hebrew Bible says Solomon built for Israel’s God. It stood until its destruction by the Babylonians in 586 BCE.

Solomon: Solomon was a king of Israel in the Hebrew Bible, traditionally credited with building the Jerusalem Temple. The biblical account names Solomon as the Temple’s builder.
Jerusalem: Jerusalem is a city in the southern Levant sacred to Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. The First Temple stood on Jerusalem’s sacred hill.
