Florigen

Florigen is a flowering signal produced in leaves and transported to shoot tips, where it promotes the transition from vegetative growth to flowering.

FLOWERING LOCUS T: A gene encoding a protein that acts as a major florigen in many flowering plants. Its protein product travels from leaves to the shoot apex and promotes flowering.
