Fluoxetine

Fluoxetine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) medication used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and other conditions. It is distinguished by its long elimination half-life and active metabolite, norfluoxetine.

Serotonin transporter: A membrane protein that recaptures serotonin from the synaptic space into presynaptic neurons. Fluoxetine inhibits this transporter, slowing serotonin reuptake.
