Forehead

The region of the face above the eyes and between the temples, extending to the hairline or scalp. It overlies the frontal bone and includes skin, muscles, nerves, and blood vessels.

Frontal bone: The skull bone forming the forehead, the upper eye sockets, and part of the cranial cavity. It provides the bony foundation beneath the forehead.
Eyebrow: A ridge of hair above the eye that helps divert moisture and contributes to facial expression. The frontalis muscle moves the eyebrows by lifting them.
Forehead lift: A cosmetic surgical procedure that elevates the eyebrows and reduces some forehead wrinkles. It alters forehead tissues and the position of the eyebrows.
Temple (anatomy): The side of the head between the forehead and ear, overlying the temporal bone. The temples form the forehead’s lateral boundaries.
Frontalis muscle: A broad facial muscle that raises the eyebrows and wrinkles the forehead. Its contraction creates the forehead’s characteristic horizontal expression lines.

Scalp: The tissue covering the top and sides of the skull, extending from the forehead to the back of the head. The forehead transitions into the scalp at the hairline, though the boundary varies.
Skin: The body’s outer protective organ, composed chiefly of the epidermis and dermis. The forehead’s visible surface is skin with region-specific thickness and oil production.
Galea aponeurotica: A tough sheet of connective tissue linking the frontalis and occipitalis muscles across the scalp. It transmits movement across the scalp to the forehead.
