Formation of Malaysia

The formation of Malaysia was the 1963 union of Malaya, Singapore, North Borneo, and Sarawak. Singapore left the federation in 1965.

Malayan Emergency: An armed conflict in British Malaya between colonial forces and communist insurgents, lasting from 1948 to 1960. The insurgency shaped British and Malayan concerns about communist influence in a proposed federation.
