Fountain pen

A reusable writing instrument that stores liquid ink in a reservoir and feeds it to a nib, typically by capillary action.

Fountain pen nib: The shaped metal or other-material point that guides ink onto paper and forms the written stroke. Its slit and tipping shape regulate the ink line and determine much of the writing feel.
Dip pen: A pen with a nib that must be dipped into an external supply of ink. Unlike a fountain pen, it has no onboard reservoir for continuous writing.
Petrache Poenaru: A Romanian inventor whose 1827 patent described a portable pen with an ink reservoir. His patented design is an early documented step toward the reservoir pen.
