Fox hunting

Fox hunting is the pursuit of foxes by hunters, traditionally with packs of scent-trailing hounds and, in some traditions, mounted riders.

Scent hound: A dog bred to follow an animal’s scent over distance. Hounds locate and follow the fox’s scent during traditional hunts.
Hunting in medieval Europe: The pursuit of wild animals for food, status, and recreation in medieval European societies. Fox hunting developed within older European traditions of aristocratic hunting.
Peter Beckford: An English sportsman and writer whose 1735 manual became a classic account of fox hunting. His writing helped codify the sport’s methods and culture.
