Frances Marion

Frances Marion was an American screenwriter and journalist whose work made her one of Hollywood’s most successful writers during the silent and early sound eras.

The Big House: A 1930 prison drama directed by George W. Hill and written by Frances Marion. Its screenplay earned Marion an Academy Award and helped establish the prison film as a genre.
