Francis Beaumont

Francis Beaumont (c. 1584–1616) was an English dramatist best known for plays written with John Fletcher, including Philaster and The Knight of the Burning Pestle.

Philaster: A tragicomedy by Francis Beaumont and John Fletcher, first performed around 1609. Its popularity helped establish the playwrights’ reputation for tragicomedy.
John Fletcher: An English dramatist who collaborated extensively with Francis Beaumont and later wrote for the King’s Men. Their partnership produced the plays most closely associated with Beaumont.
Inner Temple: One of the four Inns of Court in London, where barristers trained and gentlemen pursued legal education. Beaumont studied at this institution before becoming known as a dramatist.
