Frank Kameny

Frank Kameny (1925–2011) was an American astronomer and gay rights activist. After his dismissal from federal service for being gay, he challenged discrimination and helped organize the early gay rights movement.

Barbara Gittings: Barbara Gittings was an American gay rights activist who organized protests and challenged the exclusion of gay people from public life. She collaborated with Kameny in organizing early demonstrations and building a national movement.
Kameny v. Brucker: Kameny v. Brucker was a 1961 federal lawsuit challenging Frank Kameny’s dismissal from government employment because he was gay. The case turned his personal dismissal into a direct legal challenge to federal discrimination.
