Frederick Cook
Frederick Cook was an American physician and Arctic explorer whose disputed claim to have reached the North Pole in 1908 was rejected by most experts.
Cook–Peary controversy: A dispute over whether Frederick Cook or Robert Peary reached the North Pole first, and whether either reached it at all. Cook’s claim became inseparable from Peary’s competing claim and their conflicting accounts.
