Fumimaro Konoe

Fumimaro Konoe was a Japanese politician who served as prime minister in 1937–1939 and 1940–1941. His governments expanded Japan’s war in China and failed to resolve the crisis with the United States.

Second Sino-Japanese War: A war between Japan and China that began in 1937 and continued until Japan’s defeat in 1945. Konoe took office as the conflict began and oversaw its expansion.
