Galata Tower

A medieval stone tower in Istanbul, completed by the Genoese in 1348 as part of Galata’s fortifications. It later served as a fire lookout and is now a landmark and museum.

Republic of Genoa: A maritime republic centered on Genoa that built a far-reaching network of trade and colonies. Genoese settlers built the tower within their fortified settlement across the Golden Horn.
