Garson Kanin

Garson Kanin (1912–1999) was an American playwright, screenwriter, and film and theatre director. His work includes the comedy Born Yesterday and the film Adam’s Rib.

Born Yesterday: A 1946 play by Garson Kanin about a corrupt businessman, his mistress, and a journalist. This Broadway comedy became Kanin’s signature play and a major screen adaptation.
Ruth Gordon: An American actress, playwright, and screenwriter whose work included the screenplay for Adam’s Rib. Kanin’s wife and frequent collaborator co-wrote several of his best-known screenplays.
Theatre Guild: A New York theatre organization that produced plays and trained generations of American stage artists. Kanin worked as an actor and director with this organization early in his career.
