Gediminas

Gediminas was Grand Duke of Lithuania from about 1315 to 1341. He expanded the state, strengthened its diplomacy, and established Vilnius as its capital.

Lithuanian Crusade: The Lithuanian Crusade was a prolonged campaign by Catholic military orders and allies against pagan Lithuania. Conflict with the crusading orders shaped Gediminas’s military and diplomatic choices.
Papal diplomacy: Papal diplomacy is the conduct of political relations by the papacy through envoys, letters, and negotiations. Gediminas corresponded with Pope John XXII over conversion and relations with the Teutonic Order.
