General Government

The General Government was a German occupation administration established in 1939 over parts of occupied Poland, with its seat in Kraków. It was governed separately from territories annexed directly to Nazi Germany.

Hans Frank: A Nazi lawyer and politician who served as governor-general of the General Government from 1939 to 1945. As governor-general, he headed the administration and directed its policies from Kraków.
Operation Tannenberg: A German campaign of mass arrests and executions targeting Polish political, social, and cultural elites in 1939. Its killings and arrests helped prepare occupied Poland for German rule.
